Experience:

1998 - present: German Gerena School, Springfield, Massachusetts, Computer Teacher.  Responsible for creating a computer curriculum for grades K-3, integrating technology into the academic curriculum. Provide support / enhancement activities for grades 4-5. Work with administrators to strategize and implement a school-wide NT network. School population approximately 1,000 students.

1995 - 1998: Holyoke Magnet Middle School for the Arts, Holyoke, Massachusetts, Teacher & Technology Coordinator. Responsible for establishing an integrated academic and arts technology program, maintenance of two Macintosh LANs, staff training and development (HTML, internet, PageMaker training). School population approximately 320 students.

1990 - 1995: Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, Massachusetts, Technology Liaison. College liaison to the Holyoke Magnet Middle School for the Arts as part of a College Partnership Outreach effort, assisting in software and hardware purchasing decisions, teacher training, classroom resource support.

1991 - 1994: Hampshire College, Amherst, Massachusetts, Technology Teacher. SSEPA (Summer Science Exploration Program). NSF funded summer program to promote science learning and teaching to inner-city students and their teachers. Taught use of various science and mathematics related software applications and internet training. Established an on-going mentoring program via use of e-mail.

1984 - 1989: Helios Custom Training, Haydenville, Massachusetts, CBT Writer/Editor. Assisted in developing stand alone CBT (Computer Based Training) modules for Fortune 500 companies on Macintosh and DOS based platforms, using Educator and Course of Action (now Authorware).

1983-1991:University of Massachusetts, Office of Staff Training & Development, Amherst, Massachusetts, Database Manager. Maintained databases for registrant participation and scheduling of 200+ on-campus workshops. Created large promotional publications with PageMaker, including pre-press preparation, taught multi-session workshops on Introduction to Computers and desktop publishing (PageMaker).



Training & Professional Activities:

October 1997 – Spring 1998. Involved in the development, piloting and teaching of an eight hour internet training course now required by all educators in Holyoke.

October-November 1997. Taught a twelve hour Professional development course in Adobe Photoshop.

September 1996 - present: creation and maintenance of the Holyoke Magnet Middle School for the Arts web site.

October 1996, Holyoke Public Schools, Holyoke, Massachusetts, HTML Training. Eight-hour introductory class in creating a web page -- image formatting, basic HTML, use of tables, design considerations and submitting to search engines. Here is an example of a web site created as a direct result of my class.

July 1996, Internet Training, Springfield Public Schools. Held at Western New England College, Springfield, Massachusetts. Trained twenty k-12 educators in the use of e-mail, WWW, FTP with special focus on education resources.

1992-1995, University of Massachusetts/K-12 Network, Internet Trainer. Involved in on-going training sessions held for teacher subscribers to the UMass/K-12 network, an education ISP. Involved in basic system administration management and support, distributing user accounts, on-line education.

July 1995, Summermath for Students, Mount Holyoke College. Competitive high school preparatory summer mathematics and science program. Taught high school seniors use of the internet including FTP, WWW, e-mail, gopher.

January 1995, University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, Massachusetts. Trained twenty k-12 educators in the use of e-mail, WWW, FTP with special focus on science education and mathematics resources.

Created a massive historic site with the intent to provide a resource for school children and eventually develop a curriculum based on some of this information. Includes: Holyoke Daily Transcript Thirtieth Anniversary Issue; History of the Connecticut Valley in Massachusetts, 1879; and Mount Tom & Mount Tom Railroad.
Berkshire County, Massachusetts
Volunteer as County Coordinator for USGenWeb, a grass roots organization devoted to providing free genealogical and historic information on the internet. My additions have included the coordination of more than 1,500 pages of transcribed Vital Records.
